Album Info:About an hour and a half south east of Chicago sits the tiny town of North Judson, Indiana. Once a crossroads of several major railroads, it no longer sees any freight traffic - but there's still a wonderful railroad museum there! Steam engines, diesels, and cabooses are on display, and you can even take a ride for a mere $14! Wonderful place to spend a weekend. Enjoy!

Title:  Grasselli Tower
Description:  Though North Judson had big enough operations to have a tower, this one is actually from East Chicago, Indiana. Built by 1916, it helped switch trains amongst the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern (EJ&E), the Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB), and the B&O Chicago Terminal (B&OCT).

Description:  This EMD BL2 and its sister engine, 52, were built in 1949 for the Bangor & Arostook Railroad. The museum was quite glad to receive them because the Monon Railway employed several. Number 52 (which you will see later in the album) was pulling the diesel train on this particular day!

Description:  This engine was built in 1959 for the Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range Railway in 1959, like another one in the collection. It later joined the Eljin, Joliet, and Eastern, and was kept in its new orange and white scheme.

Description:  They numbered it 5332, but I highly doubt that Notre Dame had 5,331 more of these engines running around. This serviced the coal-fired power plant at the University of Notre Dame. The engine was built in 1942.

Description:  Used as a rolling kitchen during World War II. It later served on the wreck trains for the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad and later on the Missouri Pacific. Ironically, its service on that railroad ended when the wreck crane itself was wrecked. Thankfully, this piece of history ended up here.
