Description:  I had chased H SHKC up from Stilwell to Watts, where he was doing yard work. I figured that could take a while, and Id been out a couple of hours, so headed for home. I got to the crossing just north of the bridge when I heard a horn. I looked over to see the Q train headed south. Unfortunately, he was too far along for me to come around and set up a shot on the Illinois River, so took this grab shot from the car window. Cant win em all!!

Description:  The Q trains, if they get a DPU, usually have it ahead of the stacks and autos. Todays train was different. There were 17 stacks and 4 racks right behind the power, then 74 cars of general freight, so I was surprised to see this guy trailing along behind.

Description:  The DPUs on the southbound TXUX train are just beyond the signals at CP North Stilwell. I didnt get a car count, but those trains have been running 125 to 135 cars lately. It would meet a 124 car H train here. This guy was holding back so not to block the crossing south of the Stilwell station.

Description:  End cabs are still around on the KCS, though most often seen in the big yards or where there is a lot of switching done. We rarely see them on this part of the railroad. This one must be in transit somewhere. It was on the northbound H train.

Description:  There is a southbound grain train holding the main as the H train takes the siding. It will work here, making both a set off and a pick up. Todays H train is 147 cars, and it will block the south end for quite a while, making a long wait for the guys on the grain train. The grainer has one of the few Belle painted AC44's leading.

Description:  Watts is sometimes a busy place. We see the dodger, L 102, at right, working the yard. What would usually be his third unit is peeking out from behind the relay case at right. At left is the southbound H train, holding the main as he waits his turn at the yard. Behind the dodger is the tail end of the northbound grain train, whose crew now cant get on because the H train is blocking the power. It was a mess.

Description:  This train was on the siding at Watts waiting for a new crew. While he was there, the dodger would come down, run the main to the south end of the yard, then do his work. While that was going on, the H train arrived, and had to sit on the main waiting his turn. Normally the dodger would take the siding, and work from there, though the locals ofter need the main for headroom anyway. It would get busy there in about 90 minutes.

Description:  KCS has taken delivery of a group of ET 44 AHs, of which this is the first. Theyve been on the roster several months, but my schedule hasnt allowed me to get out and chase much, so this is the first one Ive caught on film, or, electrons. Figures it would be almost in the dark. Its trailing on the northbound H train at Watts.

Got beat again
Title:  Got beat again
Description:  I was heading home after chasing the southbound H train earlier-that effort is in "The Chase Is On"-when I saw this southbound on the Illinois River bridge. There was road work in progress between there and Watts, so chasing for the head end was out of the question. I was able to get the DPUs as the train passed the crossing leading to the bridge and Lake Frances.
