Description:
Built by Baldwin in October of 1927, this long and strong Chicago & Illinois Midland 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive easily managed long drags of cars. After nearly 28 years of service, the loco was scrapped in 1955. Specs - G-1 class, 58" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 366,800 lb, tractive effort of 68,300 lb. CIM 2-10-2 #654 - Chicago & Illinois Midland
Description:
This powerful 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive started out as Wabash 2-10-2 #2517. It was built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 (serial #57569). Wabash handed over the loco to the middleman Georgia Car & Loco Company who brokered a deal for the sale to Chicago & Illinois Midland on February 12, 1942. The loco was officially retired in May of 1955 and scrapped. Specs - G-4 class, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,079 lb. Description:
This 2-10-2 Santa Fe type of steam locomotive was originally built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 for the Wabash RR as their #2515 (serial #57567). Through the broker company George Car & Locomotive, the Wabash unit was sold to the Chicago & Illinois Midland on 2/2/1950 where it lasted on the roster until retirement and scrapping in January of 1953. Specs - G-4 class, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,079 lb. The photographer was Arthur B. Johnson.

Description:
Here is another view of the former Wabash 2-10-2 #2515 after the sale to the Chicago & Illinois Midland via the railroad brokerage firm Georgia Car & Locomotive Company. Built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 (serial #57571, it was an excellent loco well suited for long drags of cars through Illinois. The loco was finally retired in January of 1953. Specs - G-4 class, 64" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb, tractive effort of 75,079 lb. The photographer was Arthur B. Johnson.

Description:
Built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 as Wabash 2-10-2 2519 (serial #57571), the loco served until being handed over to the railroad brokerage firm of Georgia Car & Locomotive Company who sold it to the Chicago & Illinois Midland as their new addition, CIM #659 on 2/2/1950. It lasted just two years on the CIM roster before retirement and scrapped occurred in March of 1952. Specs - 75" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb and tractive effort of 75,079 lb. This photo was taken by Arthur B. Johnson.

CIM 2-10-2 #701 - Chicago & Illinois Midland
Description:
Here is a fine example of a Lima Locomotive built 2-10-2 Santa Fe type loco following the "power at speed" concept that Lima had developed. CIM #701 was built in February of 1931 and lasted as an excellent power source for long car drags across Illinois until being retired and scrapped in December of 1955 after nearly 24 years of service. Specs - H-1 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi, 30"x32" cylinders, engine weight was 405,600 lb and generated a tractive effort of 77,714 lbs. Arthur B Johnson took this photo.

Built by Baldwin as Atlantic Coast Line 2-10-2 #2016 (serial #58876) in December of 1925, it served for 26 years before being handed over to the rr brokerage firm of Georgia Car & Loco for the sale to Chicago & Illinois Midland on 1/4/1951, The CIM christened it as CIM #705 on its roster where it remained for four more years before being retired and scrapped in December of 1955. Specs - H-2 class, 63" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 391,980 lb and tractive effort of 81,600 lb. An unknown photographer took the photo.

CIM 2-10-2 #751 - Chicago & Illinois Midland
Description:
The 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in September of 1925 as Atlantic Coast Line #2000. It served the ACL for nearly 26 years. It was then sold via the Georgia Car & Loco Company brokerage firm on 1/4/1951 to Chicago & Illinois Midland as CIM #704 on but later renumbered to CIM #751. The loco lasted on the CIM roster for four more years until retirement and scrapping in December of 1955. Specs - class H-2, 63" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 391,980 lb and tractive effort of 81,600 lb. Unknown photographer.
