Album Info:We went to Denver for some medical consultation, and stayed at the KOA-Denver East, about 40 miles east of the city on I 70. The campground was immediately over the fence from the UP's Kansas Pacific line, but there were more intriguing things to see on some isolated sidings there. Someone had amassed a collection of rail equipment, most of it from the D&RGW.

Old diner
Title:  Old diner
Description:  This diner was pushed down to a position at the east end of town, almost to the end of track, as it were. No idea of the heritage. If I ever get back there-have to return for a follow up in the spring, so probably then-will have to ask around.

Interesting contrast
Title:  Interesting contrast
Description:  The area around a grain elevator and what had been the station area had a number of railroad related items, among them this 60 foot plug door reefer, and a very old stock car. The sizes of the cars and their relative ages make an interesting contrast in time and capacity.

Box cars and an elevator
Title:  Box cars and an elevator
Description:  These two DRGW box cars were sitting on the siding next to the elevator in Strasburg. Theyve been there some time; all the track here is isolated from the UP main, as the switches have been removed.

Sleepers
Title:  Sleepers
Description:  I cant imagine these cars were in this paint job any time they were in service. Theyd been pushed off in the weeds a long time ago, and must have been repainted at that point. There was no identifying mark on either of them that I could see from the road.
