Description:  Boulton. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer taken at Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, c. 1952. At the left is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5417, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1927 and retired in August of 1955 after 28 years of faithful service. In the center are the sanding towers and the coaling wharf. At the far right is a P-5A electric. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Hess for identifying this location correctly.

Description:  Boulton. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, c. 1952. Prominent here are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #410 and #5417. #410 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during April of 1915 and retired in August of 1955. #5417 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1927 and retired in August of 1955. In the center are the sanding towers and the coaling wharf.

Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5384 and #3752. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #5384 was constructed in June of 1924 and retired in March of 1953, while #3752 was built in April of 1920 and retired in April of 1958. Partially visible at the far left is the Meadows Engine House. Mr. Robert Hess identified this location correctly.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #915, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as number "1578" in August of 1913, renumbered "6295" in 1915, renumbered "915" in 1917, and retired in October of 1956 after 43 years of faithful service.

Description:  Boulton. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1967. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2361, #2606, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2361 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2606 is a GF-25 built by General Electric as number "2506" in August of 1962, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and renumbered "2606" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, they're just entering the Curve with a "high-&-wide load" consist that's on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Visible at the far right is a portion of four-track Signal Bridge #2416.

Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4245 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #4245 was constructed as number "5845" in August of 1947 and renumbered "4245" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, this A-B-A set is departing the Station with a six-car passenger train.

Both were built by GM-EMD. #7012 is an EFS-17M constructed in October of 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #6018 is an EF-25A built in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. Looks to me like they're just idling-away, awaiting their next assignment.
