As part of the Liberty Corridor project, the Bergen Tunnel through the Palisades and the Waldo "Tunnel" under the PATH tracks are having their clearances raised to accomodate 20'-2" container double stacks. I had reod that this was going to be completed by July 2010, but I guess not. I think the National Docks secondary has been OOS since January 2010 for the clearance improveTent project.

The clearance work looks to be complete1 and the rails are shiny. Safe to say service has returned to the National Docks Secondary!

Bergen Tunnel Clearance Improvement Work
Description:
Shot through the fence from the adjoining property. The track was in place just off to the left of this picture. I guess they must be digging out the bottom of the tunnel as opposed to cutting away at the ceiling to improve the clearance from 19'-6" to 20'-6"
