In the Shop
Title:  In the Shop
Description:  Quite a visit. Jerry knew these locomotives from stem to stern! I'd always thought that these boilers were limited to 20 or 25 years. Not necessarily the case. With the right water, & apparently Cass is blessed with an excellent spring they can last much longer. With minor repairs this one is going back into service. /DL

CASS 4
Title:  CASS 4
Description:  The working side of #4 the hot extra power for the day.... They kept the presure up during the day in case a resuce up on the mountain was necessary. At night the fire would be allowed to drop a bit but not much. Most boiler damage apparently comes from warm up n cool down. Keep these cycles to a minimum and the life of the boiler is extended.... ! /DL
