D&RGW K-36 482
Title:  D&RGW K-36 482
Description:  D&RGW K-36 482 at Alamosa on Colorado, August 17, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built by Baldwin in 1925 (c/n 58583), it is seen out of service at Alamosa. However, it apparently went to the C&TS during 1970 and the DSNG in 1991 and has been restored to service.

CTSR 482
Title:  CTSR 482
Description:  CHAMA NM Nov 1971 -- C&TS was still in its infancy when I visited as a neophyte railfan in 1971. I was using a borrowed Penuax SLR and a handheld light meter. This Baldwin K36 was turned over to the tourist line in 1970. The Durango and Silvertown now operates the locomotive.

D&RGW 482, fireman's side
Title:  D&RGW 482, fireman's side
Description:  The other railfan and I were both brooding, I think, as we saw the fireman's side of D&RGW 482, a narrow-gauge 2-8-2, in what I think was a backlot of the Chama, NM yard. I was fearing the worst in July 1987, but other railfans have told me that this engine has been restored to operational status!

D&RGW 482, rear of cab
Title:  D&RGW 482, rear of cab
Description:  This view shows the rear of the cab of D&RGW 482, which was in rather poor condition at the time. Notice that a lot of the parts, including gauges, are nowhere in sight. This was the condition in July 1987 but I understand this engine has been restored to operating condition.

D&RGW 5706, 3669, and other items
Title:  D&RGW 5706, 3669, and other items
Description:  D&RGW 5706, a black stock car, and 3669, a red wooden boxcar, are coupled to a green passenger car. Steam engine 482 rests in the background. This view looks north-northwest and it's a sight I never get tired of looking at!
