GN 2324 |
Description: |
GN 2324 at Sioux City, Iowa on an unknown day in June 1958, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 2324 was built by Saint Louis Car Company in 1928 (c/n 1458), powered by an EMC supplied Winton Model 120 gasoline engine rated at 275 horsepower (c/n 246) and utilized GE electrical gear. During September 1946 it was repowered with a Stirling diesel, also rated at 275 horsepower. Number 2324 contained an RPO section, a baggage section, seats for 14 passengers, and weighed 55 tons. It was retired and scrapped during July 1959. The trailing RPO is probably paying the bills on this trip. |
