PRR 9498, FF-16, 1961
Title:  PRR 9498, FF-16, 1961
Description:  Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken near Toledo, Ohio, on 13 July 1961. Photo Caption: "FM CFA16-4, PRR #9498. Toledo, Ohio. 7-13-61." Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9498 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are FF-16's built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #9498 was constructed in November of 1950 and retired in April of 1965 after just 15 years of service. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Fairbanks-Morse and Lima Diesels ~ Eastern and Canadian Roads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (902-36).

PRR 9453, FF-16, 1965
Title:  PRR 9453, FF-16, 1965
Description:  Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in La Grange, Illinois, on 17 April 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9453 and #9498. Both are FF-16's built by Fairbanks-Morse, rated at 1,600 horsepower each, and retired in April of 1965; #9453 was built in September of 1950 while #9498 was built in November of 1950. Looks to me like they're about to be traded-in for younger (i.e. GM-EMD) models!
