Here is a 2-8-2 Mikado built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in September of 1922 as B&O #4462 (serial #55678). It served in both freight and sometimes passenger service for nearly 36 years before being retired in January of 1958 at Fairmont, WV. In 1957, it was renumbered to BO #440 for a short while before meeting the scrapper's torch. Specs - Q-4 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No exact date in 1947 was given and no photographer was listed. |
