Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" #784 is due to depart Fullerton, California, at 5:40 pm. But, due to delays north of Los Angeles, the train is running a little late - arriving in Fullerton at 6:25. Thanks to a tip from friend Charles Freericks (who saw the train in L.A.), I was able to grab this shot of the train, led by F59PHI 457 in a new Operation Lifesaver wrap. Knowing the 457 was on the point caused me to search out an angle to shoot, whereas I might otherwise have concentrated on a westbound due at about this time because it had the "better" light. In retrospect, I like this light much better! (Thanks, Charles!) |

On December 29th, 2013, Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" #777 (San Diego CA to San Luis Obispo CA) passes the construction site for the new An_heim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). Located near the present Anaheim station, ARTIC is situated between Angel Stadium (MLB's Angels) and the Honda Center (NHL's Ducks) – and not far from Disneyland – and will serve Amtrak, Metrolink, transit buses, tour buses and, they hope, the planned high speed rail line connecting southern California to northern California.
