CP 2850 |
Description: |
CP 2850 (4-6-4), known as the "Royal Husdon", a steam locomotive was built 1938 by Montreal Locomotive Works. On display at EXPORAIL, CP 2850 Royal Hudson has been declared a "National Historic Site" by the Canadian government. King George VI honoured this locomotive (and all others of its class) with the title "Royal". Because it was so efficient and reliable, this type of locomotive was chosen to pull the royal train in 1939, and CP 2850 was especially chosen for this honour. |

Title: |
CP 4-6-4 #2860 - Canadian Pacific |
Description: |
Here is another well deserved locomotive that was spared the scrapper's torch after its faithful years of service. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in June of 1940, it was eventually donated to the Canadian Rwy Museum in Delson,Quebec, Note the royal crown on the side number borad denoting the "Royal Hudson" title earned by the class in 1939. Even the Louis Marx toy company somewhat modeled their streamlined toy steam engine after this model although somewhat inaccurate as a 0-4-0. Canada in August of 1964. Specs - H1e class, 75" drivers, 275 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine wt of 366,000 lb and tractive effort of 45,254 lb. This is a Wm E. Paul photo. |
