Beefy 0-8-0 switcher built by Alco in 1922 originally for the Boston & Maine as their #623. The loco was purchased in February of 1946 and scrapped after only 3 years of service in June of 1949. Unknown date, location or photographer. The water tower in back appears similar to North Maine Junctiion near Hermon, ME. The photo paper was Velox which dates it in the 1940-50's range. |

CO 0-8-0 #345 - Chesapeake & Ohio |
Description: |
This Alco-Cooke 0-8-0 yard switcher was built in 1923 as Pere Marquette #1315, class C-13. No date was given and the location by R.D. Patton was listed as Ganley's Ridge, WV. I cannot find that location anywhere. Can anyone help with this one? Jonathan Spurlock has found Handley, WV, as having several of the landmarks in a couple of photos that were marked as Ganley's Ridge, so will use that location until someone knows exactly where Ganley's Ridge is. |
