PRR 4-6-2 #1533 - Pennsylvania RR
Description:
Here is a PRR Pacific loco built in the PRR Juniata shops in 1918. The photo had a lengthy personal note on the back - "Culver, IN. Dear Dad, As you know, have inherited the old South Bend Branch and have been to So, Bend, Lakeville, La Paz Jct, Hibbard and am now here at Culver. Been thinking about you all day & here is the old train you used to run. Wish you were along, Love, Tom" The author is referring to the South Bend Branch that was originally part of the Vandalia RR, then Pennsylvania RR. Under Penn Central and Conrail, the line was eventually abandoned between South Bend and Logansport. It used to carry large shipments of Studebaker automobiles from South Bend and was famous for its doodlebug passenger service. Specifics - K-4s class, tall 80" drivers, 205 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 304,500 lb, tractive effort of 44,460 lb. No actual date or photographer was listed so an approximate date was used.

Description:
On the right in the photo is PRR 4-6-2 Pacific #1546 built by the PRR Juniata Shops in May of 1912, one of the famous K-4s class members. The loco served for over 39 years before being scrapped in November of 1951. The loco on the left is difficult to read its number - something like 5232 or 5982. No location, date, or photographer was listed for this photo unfortunately. PRR no. 1737 plate
Description:
This is one of the builders plates from the prototype K4s pacific no. 1737. In the 1950s, 3750 was renumbered to 1737 because the original 1737 had deteriorated so much that it would be impossible to preserve. The original 1737 was scrapped and 3750 took its place wearing its numberboards and builders plates.
