Description:
Here is an original photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1010, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata as an H-8B during 1909, rebuilt as an H-8SB in November of 1913, rebuilt again as an H-9S in August of 1923, and retired in October of 1950 after 27 years of faithful service. The photographer's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. Roy Healey Collection; #4 of 16.

Here is page 23 of a 19-page article by Eric Hirsimaki entitled "Interview With Clair I. Clugh: Manager, Altoona Works (Retired)." It was published originally in the Summer 1996 issue of "Keystone" magazine, page 38. Top Left-Hand Photo Caption: "Maintenance work being performed on the superheater of H8SB #1136 in the Juniata Erecting Shop." WB. Here is an image of an official photo that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 19 October 1939. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1187, an H-3E (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during January of 1888 and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. In this context, perhaps it's been prepared for display at the New York World's Fair. William E. Burket Collection.

Here is a photo taken by Mr. Clarence R.Weaver. It was published originally in the December 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 8. Photo Caption: "To entertain a recent model railroader convention in Baltimore, Md., the Pennsy de-mothballed the old-timers it keeps at Northumberland, Pa., and sent them down behind a Geep. From the GP-7 back, the train includes 2-8-0 No. 1187, 4-4-0 No. 1223, 4-4-2 No. 7002, the John Bull (on flats), and open-ended coaches." #8548 is an ES-15M road switcher built by GM-EMD in September of 1953 and rated at 1,500 horsepower.
