Description: |
A switch engine was pulling the PANAMA LIMITED's cars through the train washer at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal, while the power which brought the train in from Chicago rests at the sand tower. Car 3345 was built by Budd in 1947 as Seaboard Air Line 6605, one of six round-end bar-lounge observation cars (6600-6605) initially assigned to the upgraded SILVER METEOR and the new SILVER COMET. SAL added rear diaphragms to three of the cars around 1955. All six became Seaboard Coast Line 5840-5845 and then Amtrak 3340-3345. |
