NYSW 4006
I believe this is the fateful NRHS excursion where up in Vernon the train had an encounter with a large dump truck. Photo by my father Jim. Date is approximate.

Glen Wilson General I was on this NRHS excursion with my wife and two small boys. We saw the dump truck heading for the crossing and knew he wouldn't make it. The truck came from the left and almost made it through but ended up bouncing along the right side of the train right outside our windows. The truck driver had a really stupified look on his face. The 4006 was fresh from the factory, and management must have been crushed. I heard that it cost over $100k to make the repairs. We never made it to the Erie mainline and had to back up all the way to our starting point. Luckily the beautiful F45 3636 was undamaged. 11/13/2024 3:32:06 PM
