| In the early days, Iowa Northern struggled to stay afloat. For quite a while, they ran these 2 Geeps as main power, after a host of ex Rock Island EMDs failed and were struck on deadlines around the system. When I was a trackman for CNW, the arrival of IANR in the CNW Cedar Rapids yard was an every-other day occurance, always behind these 2 units. IANR chalked in small letters on the hoods was the only indicator of the owner. |
