EMDX SD40 434
EMDX SD40 434 testing on the CGW at Cicero, Illinois on February 19, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was the test bed for the first 645 prime mover. It was built in 1964 on an SD-35 frame, but had three large radiator fans. As built, it was painted in EMD's orange and white paint scheme, but settled down later for some long testing on the AT&SF, and was painted in a scheme similiar to the AT&SF freight scheme, but unlettered. After testing, it was sold to the GM&O, and numbered 950.
