Here is an untouched photo of the TPW Mikado doing some switching with the crew member riding the front step. Built by Alco-Richmond in 1927, this H-6 class Mikado had smll 56" drivers but developed a respectable boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 22"x28" cylinders. With an engine weight of 223,000 lb, it was one of the lightest standard guage 2-8-2's in North America. The TPW dieselized in late 1940's so this unit was sold on January 27, 1950. P. H.
