| Built in 1951 by AC&F in Lot #3445 as GN Ranch Car #1244 WHITE PINES LAKE, 1 of 6 such cars (#1240-#1245) built in that Lot for the Mid-Century EMPIRE BUILDER, which was ordered in October 1949; cars were delivered between October 1950 and March 1951. The Ranch Cars had a 14 seat lunch counter, a 12 seat dinette, and a 18 seat lounge. #1240-#1242 and #1244-#1245 were owned by GN; #1243 was owned by CB&Q after 1953. In 1974, Amtrak acquired 4 of these cars as #8150-#8153; #1240 was scrapped and #1244 was sold to Arvid Benson. The #1244 was later resold to Ralph Day (Biddeford, ME), and in 2006, the car was moved from Maine to the The Depot Rail Museum in Columbus, OH.
