PRR 8675, AS-18AM, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8675 and #8656. Both are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8675 was constructed in March of 1958, while #8656 was built in December of 1957. In this context, they're serving as tail-end pushers on a westbound mixed-cargo freight train that's just about past WORKS Tower at the left. Immediately ahead of them is PRR N-8 cabin car #478164. (#43 of 44)
