Photo Caption: "This is a view of the East Altoona Yards from the 8th Street Bridge in the late 1940s." Much of the smoke in the distance emantes from the Pennsylvania Railroad's East Altoona Roundhouse, just beyond the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. Look at all of that coal, dug from the Earth by Western-Pennsylvania coal miners! |
