Here is a photo that was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 35. Photo Caption: "The roundhouse at the Juniata Shops was the largest roundhouse in the world. This photo was taken in the early 1900s. The Pennsylvania Railroad demolished the roundhouse in 1964." The smokestack in the distance belongs to the Roundhouse's power house, located on the the eastern side of this structure. Photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. |
