Partial Caption: "With the buildings of the Altoona Machine Shop complex behind, a pair of Baldwin road freight 'sharknose' diesels leads a train of refrigerator cars west on the main line to Pittsburgh." Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9710 and another "BF" Class unit whose road number is not recorded. #9710 is a BF-16 built in December of 1950, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 16 years of service. The photographer's name and the date are not recorded. |
