PRR 4628, I-1SA, #3 of 5, 1956
Parade 1. Here is the third of five successive photos by David Connor that were taken near Southport, New York, on 24 May 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4628, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in May of 1935, and retired in October of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service. While waiting for a "Proceed" signal at KENDALL Tower, the engineman inspects the locomotive's running gear.
