Here is page seven of an 18-page article by W.R. Osborne entitled "Greatest Show On Earth: New York Division, P.R.R." It was published originally in the January 1942 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 14. Partial Caption: "Through the columned entrance to Pennsylvania Station on Seventh Avenue in New York City may walk a passenger for a through train to New Orleans or a commuter to Long Island, for from this gateway one can take trains to more places than from any other station in the country." Penn Station opened for business during 1910 but was demolished in 1965, a mere 55 years later. Alas.... |
