"Progress In Transportation: 1963," Pages 1 & 2         
Here are pages one and two of a 22-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Serving You Through Progress In Transportation." It was issued originally in December of 1963. From The Text: "Trains of the Pennsylvania Railroad carry 45 million passengers and move about 160 million tons of freight during a year. To perform these services, the company operates 2,686 diesel and electric units, 3,728 passenger cars, 137,800 freight cars, 23,000 miles of main line, branch, and yard tracks, hundreds of stations, shops, piers, and other facilities." Bottom Photo Caption: "One of the many modern Pennsylvania passenger trains operated between New York, Philadelphia, and Washington." Shown here is PRR engine #4868, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during February of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower.
