iStation. Here is a photo that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1900. At the right, a steam locomotive emerges from the double-tracked trainshed at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Station. At the left foreground are several newly-produced steam locomotives and tenders at the PRR's Altoona Machine Shops. In the center are the PRR's mainline tracks connecting Pittsburgh (to the left) with Philadelphia (to the right). Just beyond the tracks are some of the remaining businesses, bars, and brothels along 10th Avenue. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. (#7,900) |
