New Orleans Public Service streetcar 942 and another car were parked on the lay-over tracks at the foot of Canal Street, awaiting their next runs. The 942 had been built by the Perley A. Thomas Car Works in 1924 and was scrapped in June 1964, right after the original CANAL car line was replaced with diesel buses. Notice the end of the boxcar at the right end of the 942. It was parked on a New Orleans Public Belt siding on North Front Street, next to the Coca-Cola branch factory. (approximate date of photo) |
