Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5595 and #5597. Both are BS-7M switchers built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in May of 1950 and rated at 750 horsepower each. Partially visible in fireground is an ash pit left over from the steam era; in the distance is Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. |
