Even GP 30s |
Description: |
Chessies contribution to the NYSW during this period was mostly road power on stack trains-not surprising since they owned Sea Land at the time. The trains came off the ex B&O at Buffalo, and the power usually ran through to Jersey. Anything could show up, though it was typically GP 40s, but other power would make an appearance, such as this GP 30 leading HAN 2 taking the Buffalo Runner at QD, as seen from the Chenango St overpass. |

F 45 roster |
Description: |
East Binghamton under NYSW was largely an open house. As long as you didnt do anything stupid, and stayed out of the way, you were unofficially welcome to come down and shoot all the photos you wanted. I made the most of this sunny day in December 1988, getting this roster shot of a set of 45s, led by one of the Fs. |

No its not Billings |
Description: |
Despite the two BN painted units. About this time, a lot of BN SD 45s came off lease/were sold by BN, and wound up all over America on lease fleets and regionals. NYSW, aside from having a fleet of its own ex BN power, also leased a number of these units while running the D&H. We see two at East Binghamton |

Rainy BUME |
Description: |
The weather in Binghamton was legendary for the rain, but the trains ran. I shot photos. This rainy day has BUME underway through the south end of Bevier St on its way north. |

Pushers in paradise |
Description: |
I have always felt upstate NY is one of the most beautiful places anywhere. Its easy to see why in this scene of PLMTs pushers, a set of 45s, roll across the stone arch over NY 7, seen though the expanse of farmland. |

Wish I had that house |
Description: |
PLMT, a Mt Tom coal train, rolls north as the pushers work hard to keep it moving uphill. The folks in the house up there on the hill are getting a great show as the train snakes past Nowlan Rd and through town. |

The helper set is about to cut off at the tunnel, having pushed the train over the top of the grade. This is the cleanest I ever saw the 3638. |
