Long before a GP40 wore the B&O #4437, this Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado had the honor. Built in march of 1921, it served for nearly 33 years before bing retired and scrapped in May of 1954 at the Mt Clare, MD yards. Specs - Q-4 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No exact date in 1941 was given and no photographer was listed. |
