| This beautiful profile of the Lima 2-8-4 Berkshire was caught while the locomotive headed up the "Golden Spike Limited" on its return trip back to Steamtown after visiting Promontory, Utah for the "Driving of the Golden Spike Ceremony" in 1969. After faithfully serving the Nickel Plate Road, the locomotive was mercifully sold for scrap to F. Nelson Blount on October 16, 1962 who preserved it at Steamtown National Historic Site now in Scranton, PA. No photographer was listed for this fine photo. |
