C&S Boxcar 1508         
Burlington Route 40-foot, 50-ton box car C&S 1508 was wearing the reporting mark of subsidiary Colorado & Southern. It was on the Louisville & Nashville at Pascagoula, Mississippi on 28 June 1958. The car had been built at the Burlington’s HAVELOCK SHOPS in Lincoln, Nebraska just 11 months earlier, in July 1957, as part of an order for 300 cars (1500-1799). It had a CAPACITY of 100,000 pounds, a LOAD LMT of 122,100 and a LIGHT WT of 46,900 for gross rail load of 169,000 pounds. Notice that CAPACITY and LIGHT were spelled out, and not abbreviated as CAPY and LT.
