Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9525, #9641-B, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9525 is an EF-15 constructed in July of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in August of 1966. #9641-B is an EF-15A built in March of 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They're pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. Note the two dwarf signals in the foreground and the 4th Street Footbridge in the distance. Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. In the foreground (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5791 and two more units whose road numbers are not visible. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5791 was constructed in May of 1952. They're pulling an eastbound mail & express train and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. In the background, note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 has halted. Partially visible in the right distance are some of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shop buildings. Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. At the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8619, an AS-18M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in August of 1956 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It's pulling a mixed-cargo train under the 7th Street Bridge and is headed to the Hollidaysburg Yards. Note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 is still waiting! Description:  Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #8614, #8609, #9866, #9852-B, #9641-B, and #9860. #8614 and #8609 were built by the American Locomotive Company in 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each; #8614 is an AS-24M, but #8609 is an APS-24MS; they are serving as "helpers" in this context. #9866, #9852-B, #9641-B, and #9860 were built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9866, #9852-B, and #9860 are EFP-15's built in 1952. #9641-B is an EF-15A built in 1950. They are threading the 14th Street interlocking on their way up the New Portage/Muleshoe Curve route with a 95-car iron-ore train. The caboose is N-5C #477898. Also visible (L to R) are the Altoona Passenger Station, the 12th Street Bridge, a westbound passenger train about to depart, an eastbound passenger train in the process of departing, and several of the PRR's 12th Street Shop buildings.
