PRR 5791, EP-22, 1965 |
Description: |
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. In the foreground (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5791 and two more units whose road numbers are not visible. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5791 was constructed in May of 1952. They're pulling an eastbound mail & express train and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. In the background, note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 has halted. Partially visible in the right distance are some of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shop buildings.
